John Turnbull | Biography

University and Independent theatre in Newcastle. Worked in film and established an English theatre in Rome (Orton, Osborne, Shakespeare). In UK - Theatr Clwydd (Wales)– Hamlet, The Cherry Orchard, plus National touring), Chichester Festival (School For Scandal, Lady Windermere’s Fan, The Rivals – plus tours and West End), Vienna’s English Theatre (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Dresser), many other plays over the London Fringe. Also active in Shakespeare’s Globe. Back in Australia with Richard Cottrell’s Nimrod Company at Seymour (Wild Honey, The Merchant of Venice, All’s Well That Ends Well); Bell Shakespeare (Henry 4& 5, Troilus and Cressida, The Soldier’s Tale, Wars of the Roses). Also SATC, MTC and STC. Independent Theatre includes Bedroom Farce, Bison, Bent, The Three Sisters, Men Without Shadows. Devises and performs poetry cabarets. His Beat show, Birth of the Cool played Festivals in Edinburgh, Germany, Melbourne and Sydney, and a new poetry show Raging Romantics is ready to go. 

Previous roles for Sport For Jove include Polonius in Hamlet, Rageneau in Cyrano de Bergerac, and Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing.
