WELCOME

A MESSAGE FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR DAMIEN RYAN

Hail all NSW teachers, we herald and congratulate you for another outstanding year of leadership and inspiration – in your classrooms, at your marking centres, with your preparations, your results and through your guidance. We are so proud to partner with you in your students’ relationships with the creative arts and in 2024 we cannot wait to welcome you again into theatres or to meet you in your places of education to work face to face with the kids. Thank you.
An array of goodies within, please take a look and know that, as always, Sport for Jove’s work is built on passion, rigour, attention to detail and is specifically designed to marry with the work you are doing in the classroom, supporting discussion and provoking thought in equal measure.

Grab a seat in 2024 and have a brilliant year!

2024 DIGITAL BROCHURE

2024 Productions

For more than a decade, our Education Program has been where teachers turn to so their students can experience rich and engaging productions, deepening their understanding and relationship to the text. In 2024 we offer 3 mainstage productions: Shakespeare’s King Henry IV, Part 1, Richard III and Romeo & Juliet.

Performances will take place for school audiences at The Seymour Centre (Sydney), Riverside Theatres (Parramatta) and Orange Civic Theatre (Orange). We will offer detailed Student Resource Kits for all works in the season.

Both the Seymour Centre, Riverside Parramatta and Orange Civic Theatre are working hard to ensure that their venues are safe for audiences to attend.

You can find out more about their COVID-Safe plans below.

2024 HSC & YEAR 11 SYMPOSIUMS

Forum LARGE-4621_edited.jpg

"You made a difficult play accessible and meaningful to students in a short space of time. I will certainly be making a booking for next year's group"

Teacher, Marian College

Sport for Jove’s HSC Performance Symposium series in 2024 offers a powerful theatrical experience of the plays’ major scenes and characters in performance, coupled with theatrical analysis and curriculum-based insights into how they work.

Join Damien Ryan and the team to explore the plays’ multiple meanings, open up diverse critical readings, unlock language & character, hear actors discuss the plays’ famous ambiguities and challenges, and respond to students’ questions. A complete, hands-on experience that combines the unfiltered relationship students need with the plays action and narrative, while also ensuring they are ‘watching with understanding’. We extract the key ingredients and critical thinking required to write on the plays under exam conditions. Every aspect of the work is geared toward the curriculum and the specific needs of students studying these plays.

EACH SESSION IS 2.5 HOURS IN DURATION

including performance, analysis, discussion and a brief interval.

Detailed Student Resource Kit included with each Symposium.

In 2024, we invite you and your students to explore the following plays with us:

King Henry IV, Part 1

Richard III

The Tempest | Hagseed
