Michael Hankin | Biography

Michael is a Set and Costume Designer for theatre and film.  Credits include JUMPY (MTC/STC); A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE GLASS MENAGERIE and ANGELS IN AMERICA (nominated Best Stage Design STA and APDA 2013), FOOL FOR LOVE (Belvoir); 247 DAYS (Chunky Move / Malthouse); OBSCURA (Force Majuere); DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS (Theatre Royal); THE DARK ROOM (nominated Best Stage Design 2011 STA); UGLY MUGS, RUST AND BONE, THE UGLY ONE (Griffin); LORD OF THE FLIES (Malthouse); TRUCKSTOP (Q Theatre/Seymour Centre; awarded Best Independent Stage Design 2012 STA); THE LIGHTHOUSE, IN THE PENAL COLONY and THROUGH THE GATES (Sydney Chamber Opera); LIBERTY EQUALITY FRATERNITY and GREAT FALLS (Ensemble).  Short films include: REASON TO SMILE, JULIAN and THE AMBER AMULET (both winners of Crystal Bear Award, BIFF). NIDA trained, Michael has worked with directors such as Kip Williams, Eamon Flack, Anouk Van Dijk, Roger Hodgman, Leticia Caceres, Sarah Giles and Imara Savage.
