John McNeill | Biography

John’s extensive stage experience includes Away (Sydney Theatre Company), Ruben Guthrie (La Boite), Thrall (Tamarama Rock Surfers) Noir, Blue Eyes and Heels, The Glory of Living, Gary’s House, Fool For Love, Two Way Mirror and many others, ranging from musicals Anything Goes to a variety of Shakespearian roles including The Tempest, Richard III, The Merry Wives of Windsor.

On television, he played Lennie McPherson in two seasons of Underbelly (2 & 3) along with many other roles in shows such as The Gods of Wheat Street, Rescue Special Ops, Tricky Business, Crownies, Rake, All Saints, McLeod’s Daughters, The Cut, Blue Murder, The Alice, Water Rats, White Collar Blue, Heartbreak High, Home and Away and others.

Feature films include Candy, Dirty Deeds, Kangaroo Jack, The View From Greenhaven and the soon to be released, Burns Point.
John is also a playwright and his play Pikers was produced at Belvoir St and Stables theatres. His short plays Jesus of Marrickville, Slapping Leonard Cohen and Big Dougie Draws Stumps have been produced at various Sydney venues.

John has worked as a singer guitarist and was the lead singer of Canberra theatrical rock band Blood Money.
